South County League Board of Governors Meeting

December 12, 2017
The meeting was called to order at 7:58 AM by Pres. Michael Lapkin. He greeted the governors and guests and thanked Delaire Country Club for hosting a wonderful breakfast.
Roll call was taken and all the clubs were present.
Past presidents in attendance were Chuck Milber and Paul Weiss
The new governors and captains were introduced
The minutes of last meeting were accepted without any additions or corrections.
Al Berger welcomed Boca Resort and Country Club back to our league. They will be joining with Boca Lago.
President Lapkin thanked the Pace of Play, Rules, Strategic Planning, and scoring and Handicap (Jay Levine) Committees for their hard work this year.
He also asked for volunteers to host the Governor’s Meeting on Feb. 13 and October 9. The March 13 meeting will be at Boca Lago, the June 12 meeting will be at Stonebridge, the September 11 meeting will be at Wycliffe, and the December 12 meeting will be at Broken Sound.
Treasurer report: Richard North reported on our income and expenditures:

Scoring and Handicap........Jay Levine, Aberdeen
Jay reviewed the Nassau style scoring system for next year with printed examples.
Booklet …………………. Jay Levine, Aberdeen
Jay reminded everyone to check the booklet draft for any errors. 200 copies of the booklet will be printed this year.

Larry offered to set up a mobile phone shortcut to the website for anyone who would like one.
PRESIDENT'S REPORT:
Mike suggested that governors talk to their golf committees, pros, and management to promote the league.
He also suggested introducing club pros into league play. This will be discussed at the February meeting.
The idea of having cash rewards for some form of league accomplishment was introduced. A committee chaired by Manny Newman was formed to discuss this.
It was announced that next year’s Presidents Day will be hosted by Aberdeen.
Next meeting will be on Feb. 13. Venue to be announced.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8:28AM.
